Dot Mandala

I first noticed the dot mandalas on rocks. They were everywhere and my interest was peaked by the beauty of combinations of colors and the varying designs. I believe it would be very difficult if not impossible to find any two designs that are alike. I started with rocks and have since added the designs to cradled boards, canvases, slate tiles, ceramic tiles, mugs, incense burner bottles, dinner plates and paper. I think if my Bernese Mountain dog would stand still long enough, she would have one on her backside.

I have painted the designs in specific colors requested and some in what I thought would be loved by those who have received them as gifts. Many of my rocks and other painted mandalas adorn hearths, gardens, porches, altars, walls, cubbards and floors all over the DFW area and beyond. Those given as gifts were sometimes blinged out with jewels or have had meaningful quotes added along side the mandala. Some even had the Center for Spiritual Living teaching symbol as the center dot.

Dotting tools are all over the internet along with many great tutorials. I suggest visiting Kristin Uhrig on her YouTube channel. (see her under Artists Who Inspire) She has many videos from which to become a master at dot mandalas and much information on what and where to purchase dotting tools.

Enjoy making these meditative beauties.
